Now that we’ve got your attention. Take a little peek at this hoax that’s doing the rounds. It promises that by setting your iPhone back to January 1st 1970 you’ll get some retro design.

It doesn’t. Not only will yoube without thiscool retro mode, you’ll potentially have broken your phone. The date change causes your phone to be permanently stuck whilst rebooting if it’s switched off or runs out of battery. Honestly, some people just want to watch the world burn.

The weird glitch was discovered last week, and people being people they have started creating fake ads to try and encourage people to break their phones.

Any iOS device with a 64 bit processor will be affected.That meansthe iPhone 5s, 6, 6 Plus, 6s and 6s Plus, the iPad Air 2, the iPad Mini 3 and 4, and the sixth-generation iPod Touch.

Apple have acknowledged the problem and shall be introducing a software update to rectify the problem in the near future.
